Guided WalkingDo you enjoy walking? Do you wish to see a little of the real Algarve? Why not take advantage of the services of our guided walking tours?

Walking in the Algarve is a dream and you will get to discover the quieter side of the Algarve, or even the Real Algarve.

If you enjoy being guided on countryside, mountain or coastal walks, but do not know where to go, then we know just the person.

We are pleased to able to offer the services of a local Englishman who has lived here for 8 years and loves the Algarve as much as we do and has taken the time to discover many beautiful walks to suit all walking abilities.

Get away from the holiday hotspots, enjoy a half, a full day or even a walking holiday (days to suit your requirements) and walked at your pace.

There is nothing better than warm sun on your back, the smells and scents of the wild flowers, the eucalyptus and pine trees and the citrus of orange and lemon groves.

Have lunch in a small café with country cooking to tempt you, see how the local people live away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal strip. The centuries old donkey tracks and paths are still here – they just take a little bit of finding, but our walking tour guide has taken the time to find them.

Our tour guide will pick you up at The Quintassential and tours start from €50.00 per day, for two people.

We are blessed with many great walks around the Quintassential – here are just some of the many walks:

  • From in and around Querença there are at least 4 walks in the hills and valleys of this quite stunning area, visit a local basket maker, Fonte Benémola never known to run dry, villages where time stands still, small cafes and all good tracks.
  • There is a nice walk setting off from the Quintassential and very different.
  • From Salir there again at least 4 walks, some quite strenuous, climb the Penna Massive walk through the almond and citrus groves, again all good tracks.
  • Moving towards the picturesque town of Alte, there are 3 lovely walks in this area, small villages, cork woods, citrus groves and much more.
  • Moving further west to the town of Messines, another 3 good walks in this different area, we look at the Barragem do Arade.
  • For those who want to go further west still, there are several walks on the West Coast – here you will see the magnificent views. For walks to the West Coast there is a supplement of €35.00 extra.

Your guided walks can be long or short, you the guest are on holiday to look, take pictures, smell the scents of the Algarve.  You will see wild herbs, the various trees, spring flowers, and the strawberry tree and then you can taste the firewater from the fruit at the next cafe.  As you can see from the list of local walks, there is plenty to discover and you will not be disappointed.

Most of the walks are 12 to 15 km, pace is easy, the Algarve is quite hilly, so yes, there are up and down bits to do, and the odd small river to cross to add to the excitement!

Walks tend to start from a cafe after having been picked up from the Quintassential; all attempts are made for a coffee stop along the way, and then maybe have a snack and a beer at the finish.

Should you wish to go on one of these beautiful walks you will be expected to have good trainers or walking shoes (no walking in flip-flops or open toe sandals).

Your safety is at the forefront of all walks and our tour guide is with you every step of the way.  Our aim is for you to have a happy holiday, a safe one and come back for more!
